The Babies Heart Fund Endurance Challenge

Nothing is scarier than finding out that your newborn child needs open heart surgery. Lorenzo Sargenti learned just that when his daughter, Charlotte, was born with a severe congenital heart defect. Fortunately, thanks to the incredible work of the team at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Charlotte’s surgery was a success, and she’s able to live a normal life.

During this experience, Lorenzo learned that Charlotte’s condition wasn’t all that rare. Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect, impacting nearly 40,000 newborns each year. That’s why Lorenzo and his family started supporting the Babies Heart Fund at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. They know that their support – and yours – will fund research that will bring hope to families dealing with heart defects and, more importantly, give more babies a chance to live long, healthy lives. The Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center

For adults living with Cerebral Palsy (CP), like Gregory Moomjy, life can be difficult and lonely to manage. Most of the literature and research around CP has been focused on children and adolescents, leaving adults to navigate new territory on their own.

But Gregory doesn’t feel lonely, thanks to The Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He credits their support group with changing his life and the lives of many other adults living with CP, giving them all a community where they can learn and share experiences together.

For Gregory’s 31st birthday, he made it clear to his friends and family that the most meaningful way they could celebrate was by supporting the Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center to help other adults living with CP get the help they need for years to come. Visit Gregory’s campaign here.
